Vacancies at Radio Grapevine: Request Collectors : Producers : Presenters If you are interested in the above, which can lead onto other parts of the station such as Fundraising and Road shows, please contact us at: membership@radiograpevine.com or by phoning us at (01506) 411123 Request collectors - These people keep the station alive. They speak to our listeners, tell them about the station, and how to tune in. You don't need to know about music to begin with, but it does help when you get asked for some of the more obscure requests. Producers - Knowing about music helps but ability to organise requests, decipher the cryptic messages written by the request collectors, and answer the phone is more important. Producers should also be able to deal with the presenter tantrums, keep them supplied with coffee, stop them from talking too long, and tell them when to play the jingles. Presenters - These incredibly good looking, talented, sexy people play the records and talk to the listeners over the airwaves. No seriously, they visit wards, play music, and talk (and talk). Presenters usually don't need to know anything about music; that's why they need the producers, but they do need to be able to hit the right button every now and then, use the right fader, or cue up vinyl (remember the big black discs with two sides?) Other Roles - It’s important that our station runs well and our members are also expected to work as a team to achieve this. Whether it’s raising money, helping out at Radio Grapevine events or helping to keep our studio tidy, we all pitch in.
